Bank Holidays in October 2024 Banks Closed for 15 Days

As October approaches, marking a festive season, banks in India will be closed for a total of 15 days throughout the month, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar. This includes public holidays, regional holidays, and regular closures on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays. Key festivals such as Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali, and Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti contribute to this extensive list of closures.

Customers can still access banking services through net banking, ATMs, mobile apps, and bank websites during these holidays. In September, banks were closed for 12 days, with holidays including Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam, and Id-e Milad.

The RBI categorizes holidays into three types: Real-Time Gross Settlement Holidays, Banks’ Closing of Accounts Holidays, and Holidays Under the Negotiable Instruments Act. The second and fourth Saturdays of each month are designated as holidays for all banks, while they remain operational on other Saturdays.
